Blonde oranges

The growing of white-pulp orange is the most widely spread type of orange in the world. These oranges are divided into two kinds: oranges with navel or without navel, depending on the presence in the fruit of a second and smaller fruit in formation, called navel.

Navelina and Valencia oranges belong to this group and open and close the orange commercialization campaign.

NAVEL

The most widely spread Navel variety in our areas are Navelina and Washington Navel oranges.

The Navelina ripening starts in mid October and the Washington Navel ripening in January.

Lane Late and Navelate ripening falls in April and May. These two varieties are less common in Italy.

This group presents a good productivity and a medium resistance of the fruits in the plant.

The oranges present good organoleptic characteristics, less inner juice than other types of oranges and are mainly appropriate for the fresh product market.

OVALE

Oval (or Calabrese) is an Italian type of orange of a medium size, oval shaped, very juicy and with excellent organoleptic properties.

Ripening falls in April. Unfortunately, some features of the plant -such as its second blossom, the edafoclimate demands, its cold vulnerability- restrict the distribution of this type of orange.

VALENCIA

This is the most widely spread orange type in the world thanks to the plant's ability to adapt to different environments and to the fruit characteristics, which turn it appropriate to be used in the fresh fruit and processed fruit markets.
